We stand at the crossroads; do we move on in to the direction of co-operation with nature and our world, or do we continue on the path of waste and total disregard for the earth and the environment?
In other words do we go on with “ business as usual” , or do we change directions just in time? If we decide to go on the path of co-operation and take responsibility and find a better way to cut energy costs, the answer is right in front of us; it is the circle, the dome, the round, the strongest structure upon the planet and the most energy efficient.
According to David South, President of Domes For The World, in Italy Texas, “ The round structure is in harmony with the natural laws of geometry.
Circular construction uses up to 50% less building materials, which means 50% less wall space exposed to the elements compared to the regular cube houses.” And due to its aerodynamic structure there is virtually no resistance to the weather on the outside, which means the air will be free flowing with no obstruction of flat surfaces thus causing no damage.
He goes on to say, “ The dome is very strong, able to withstand wind speeds up to 300 miles per hour, they are hurricane proof, earthquake proof, tornado proof, they are virtually indestructible!
Another very important factor he wants us to consider, is the energy saving quality of the dome structure. “ Monolithic domes drop the need for energy by 50%-75% , because the interior aerodynamics of the dome allows air to circulate, allowing even temperatures throughout, there is no corners for air to get trapped. We insulate the outside of the concrete dome with 3 inches of urethane foam which is equivalent to 8 inches of Styrofoam insulation.”
This 3 inches of urethane foam insulation on the outside of the dome actually acts like a battery, yes, it stores the suns rays and keeps the dome warm for many hours and if one needs a bit of cooling off, all one has to do is turn on a small fan and it cools it quite nice according to David South.
Another interesting thing David South found out while working with the dome structure is that when he placed a wind generator on the top of the dome, “it produced up to 20%-25% more energy than when placed on a flat surface. The wind speeds around the dome seems to become intensified.
“The roundness of the dome actually doubles the pressure generating electricity, Modern wind generators are not built for such speeds, and another problem is the wind generators are too noisy.” However David South will be testing the TMA wind generator very soon “ because it is much quieter than the ones on the market.”
And if you are wondering if these domes would stand up to your specific climate, David South seems to think so, “ Concrete is the only building material where weather does not matter, concrete domes can be built anywhere and in any climate; hot, hot and humid, rainy, and cold temperatures.”
The reason that the dome structure for housing alternatives is not so pronounced in present day society is because, “ There is much opposition to the dome structure, people are afraid of change.” But David South says, “I will not back down. People have to be educated about these wonderful structures.” Domes can be used as wonderful restaurants, businesses, resorts,
and of course homes, from the very basic to the very elaborate, the possibilities are endless!
David South will be developing a transportable model this year, some he will be sending to Canada.
The transportable models range from 150, 201 and 206 square foot cabins. Real nice and cozy for single people. And these cabins can be interconnected if the family gets larger. One can make an encircled court yard like the clay domes one might find in Africa, and have the children play in the encirclement or make one of those cob ovens in the center for great family cook outs.
All over the world, people are searching for energy alternatives. It may not be a device that saves the day, it might be that we have to restructure the way we live, re- think the home. The houses that a good part of the population live in are extremely inefficient, they are constantly being blown apart by wind storms, washed away by floods, burnt by fires, and these box type houses are constantly loosing energy from every corner. David South`s web site monolithic.com demonstrates the energy efficiency of the dome compared to the box house in his thermographs, which shows how much heat is being lost from the different structures.
If these structures do not work for us anymore, why not change them? Can we really afford to continue to do “ business as usual” ?
THE YELLOW TREE HOUSE, A PROJECT IN SUSTAINABILITY. By Helene Griffith.
Deep in the New Zealand woods, high up in a red wood tree is an amazing sight indeed; A luxury restaurant in a tree. And this restaurant is no ordinary restaurant, either in appearance or in concept. At first glance it might remind you of a huge garlic bulb, or an enormous pod, surely a scene from some fantastic fairytale you heard when you were a child.
The concept of the yellow tree house is an intriguing one as well. It was a “ project in sustainability” that the architects with Pacific Environments, Peter Eising and Lucy Gauntlett took upon themselves. The Yellow Pages challenged these architects to see if they could build a restaurant only using the resources found in the yellow pages, which means they would only be allowed to use products and services from the local community; every thing would have to be bought or made locally, from the timber used to the food served.
And this is where the “yellow” tree house gets it name, because it had been constructed completely with local products, from the “yellow” pages.
The yellow tree house is now a world class tourist attraction, people come to Auckland New Zealand to view this wonderful masterpiece and take part in a fine dining experience.
This whole project proves one thing, that if people work together and use the resources that are with in each community, many jobs would be sustained and many created. We do not have to farm out work to China or Mexico. We have all the resources and man power we need right within our own communities. We need to make our communities strong again. So the next time you need some materials for any great ideas you might have, look locally and you might be pleasantly surprised.

GMO FOOD, A DIRECT ASSAULT ON OUR HEALTH SO A FEW MAY PROFIT.

What is genetically modified food? Why is it necessary to change a perfectly balanced biological system, that has maintained life upon this planet for many centuries, in to something foreign, that greatly compromises the health and well being of all species upon planet earth? What is the real reason for genetically altering our food supply? Is it really a concern for public health and safety, or is it necessary to modify or change something so it would be indistinguishable from its original state in order to say it is you own creation, and be able to patent it, even though it compromises all life on the planet. The food and seed industry are wide open territory for the GMO giants, who are going after everything that is patentable, for the sake of profit and patent ownership of the food supply.

When something is genetically modified, it is “ created by means that overcome natural boundaries.” It involves the crossing of species that do not cross in nature; such as the use of fish genes in strawberries and tomatoes, moth genes in potatoes, and human genes in rice. Members of the Union Of Concerned Scientists are deeply concerned that GMO crops are not safe for consumption by any species, because “ plants process proteins differently than animals and humans.” There is a genuine concern that these
“ plant produced human proteins could be perceived as foreign by the body, and elicit an allergic reaction, including life threatening anaphalactic shock.”
According to Jeffrey M. Smith, author of Seeds Of Deception, The health effects of GMO foods are unpredictable and may be “ serious to life threatening”. He also states that the health problems associated with GMO foods include “ Thymus and spleen damage, enlarged tissues including the pancreas and intestines, liver atrophy, and other serious problems including cancer, bleeding stomach, intestinal damage, and liver disease”.
A disturbing fact that Jeffrey M. Smith points out is “ the gene being inserted in to corn and soy tends to dismantle the normal barriers of gene transfer, which means that the foreign gene will take up residence in your gut bacteria, and be producing a foreign protein within you”.
Jeffrey M. Smith pointed out in one study where a gene( a corn toxin) was inserted in to a mouse DNA, the corn toxin “ jumped the species barrier and continued to function”, and totally damaged the intestines of the mouse.
“ The dangers of Genetically Modified Organisms are uncontrollable and unreliable, and typically ends up damaging and scrambling the host gnome, with entirely unpredictable consequences that might unleash a deadly Andromeda Strain.”

Over 80% of all processed foods in America are genetically modified, which means that anything being exported from America will be 80% genetically modified. Jeffrey M. Smith gives us a list of a few common foods that are GMO: “ Rice, corn, soy beans, soy products, vegetable oils, soft drinks, salad dressings, vegetables and fruits,dairy products, meat, tomato sauce, ice cream, peanut butter, and an array of additives”.
F. William Engdahl, economic and political analyst states that the American food chain has been taken over by GMO crops. He states that” the entire meat production of the nation, including exports, have been fed on Genetically Modified animal feed”. And the worst thing of all is that the GMO`s have not been properly tested, and to feed livestock on potentially hazardous and deadly feed is suicide because “the health effects are alarming”.
Argentina was the first country to be forced to grow GMO crops. F. William Engdahl states that the farmers that were forced to grow these crops, under penalties of huge fines, stated that all of their animals were getting sick and many were dieing. He also noted that the farmers and their families were getting very ill, and many people in the surrounding areas were becoming ill as well. Their symptoms included “ violent bouts of nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and skin lesions.” The farmers also noted that the “ the animals were being born with severe organ deformities, vegetables were deformed, and lakes were filled with dead fish. And some families were reporting that their children were developing grotesque blotches on their bodies”.
Is this gross injustice being done to all life upon this planet so a few big agribusiness could hold patents on our food supply to impose a use tax on farmers across the globe ? Is it just a mere money making venture, totally unconcerned with the serious health effects and life threatening potentials ? It would seem so.
In 1980 Supreme Court decision in Diamond vs/Chakrebarty ruled, “Any thing under the sun, that is man made is patentable.” and since then many GMO giants including Monsanto have been genetically engineering every thing they could get their hands on. The issue here is to take control of the food chain , requiring farmers to pay annual license fees, royalty fees and technology fees, thus forcing many small farmers out of business, making way for the controlled agri-businesses which are most likely run by the same interests.
After the US occupation of Iraq, something called Bremer order 81 was imposed. F. William Engdahl states that this order covered all seed patents and their duration; “ Farmers shall be prohibited from reusing seeds from protected varieties or any variety”, and this would give the patent holders “ absolute rights over the farmers for 20 years”, which would make all seed saving and reuse now to become illegal.
The people in North America should act while they still have the opportunity to do so, before it is too late. Educate yourself about the health effects of GMO foods and realize that once a plant is genetically modified it will spread like wild fire, everything will become infected including the wild plants and grasses in adjacent fields, the bees carrying the GMO pollen will infect everything everywhere.
We must say no to GMO foods. We must put a stop to the monster that is being created for the sake of making more profits off of the food industry. We already gave up, to some degree, our abilities to grow pour own food to agri-businesses. They have taken us out of the field and in to cities where we have become dependent upon them for our food. If our food continues to be tampered with we will all leave the cities and our jobs and go back to farming the land and protecting our crops. We will take control of our lives and our health again. If we do nothing we will be gazing at the remnants and residue of our plants and crops that will never be the same again.
Ug99, THE PLAGUE OF THE CENTURIES. By Helene Griffith
Chytrid fungus or better known as UG 99, a fungus that originated in Uganda, the mysterious killer fungus that is responsible for the total destruction of our grain crops around the world is about to become the plague of the centuries.
“ The host of this fungus dies of dehydration within a few hours”, was a statement from Amphibian Ark with the University Of California, Berkley.
"A wheat crop can be turned in to a tangle of blackened and broken stems in a few days.” --------The Guardian
“ UG 99 is a virulent strain of black stem rust( Puccinia Graminis).” -----New Scientists
“ On mature wheat, the fungus reproduces asexually to release billions of identical spores. If the spores drift on to a barberry bush, they switch to sexual reproduction and could swap genes with other stem rusts and create completely new variants,.” -------New Scientists
The Genetically modified crops , many of which use antibiotics in their genetics have made these crops become non resistant to this fungus because the more one uses antibiotics the weaker the immune system becomes.
According to Gene Milus, a wheat pathologist from the University of Arkansas,“ the disease can be erratic, but under the right environmental conditions, there could be 100% loss in infected fields, and it can be devastating.” The worlds cereal grain fields could dehydrate within a few days, and nothing would be left. “This is a very serious matter, but congress has determined that it was not so important so they cut all funding for crop research, and it was not just wheat crop research that was cut but all crop research has been cut to zero.”
Can this fungus mutate into unknown strains and kill off whole populations of bees, bats, insects, and humans? According to an article in New Scientist, “this stem rust could swap genes with other stem rusts and create completely new variants.”
Around the world you see the bees dying off from a strange fungus, you see millions of bats dying off in the eastern United States, due to a strange fungus found on their faces, around their noses, and you see humans becoming infested by a fungus called
Candida. Is it really Candida that is infesting the human population, or is it something else. Has UG 99 mutated and spreading on our cereal grains? Are we ingesting this lethal fungus that congress does not seem to think is so important?
